We live in a world today where mankind hordes to themselves without any thought or regard to the consequences. They throw off all sense of shame and are utterly destitute of conduct and character, having no remorse. You have to wonder if people actually give any thought to what they say or do, or do they just act.

A wise man once said “a river without boundaries is a swamp”. In other words we must learn to cultivate our mind! Or end up having a mind that stinks and is dark (wicked). Ephesians (4:17-19) tells us that many live in the vanity of their mind and that their understanding is darkened.

Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth. 6 Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee: love her, and she shall keep thee. 7 Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding. Prov 4:1-7

The writer in Proverbs is telling us, if we can but grasp it, that we need wisdom and understanding if we are really going to enjoy life to its fullest without the dire consequences.

Wisdom is our guardian and companion, and if not forsaken, will be our protector. We must receive instructions willingly; retain and practice them; and then we’ll truly live!

While we are passing through things temporal, we must not lose those things which are eternal; while diligent in business, we must be fervent in spirit serving the Lord.

Do not merely be content with the lessons of wisdom, or satisfied with having a sound religious creed; for the devils believe and tremble.  See that you properly comprehend all that you have learned, and see that you rightly apply all that you have been taught.

Wisdom prescribes the best end, and the means best calculated for its achievement. Understanding directs the ways, times, places, and opportunities of practicing the lessons of wisdom. Wisdom points out the thing required; understanding sees to the accomplishment and attainment. Wisdom sees, but understanding feels. One discovers, the other possessesget wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding

I just don’t want to discover the truth, I want to possess it. For it will set us free!
